An Introduction

The plant-based lifestyle expands the philosophy of the plant-based diet (as discussed in my previous post here) to all areas of life. The main principles of the lifestyle include being environmentally friendly, cruelty-free, and mindful.

What Does it Mean?

A plant-based lifestyle can look differently for each person. One person might take up minimalism and recycling while another starts volunteering at an animal shelter and buying green house cleaning products. It is all about the mindset of living the best existence you can. For me, living a plant-based lifestyle is about limiting the harm I am doing to myself, others, and the planet.

What Can I Do?

This lifestyle is not about being perfect, but about being the best version of yourself. We all have choices we can make everyday to make the world a better place. Below are some things you can try that represent the plant-based ideology.

  • Start eating a plant-based diet
  • Recycle
  • Buy cruelty-free products
  • Volunteer
  • Rescue a pet from your local shelter
  • Buy green products
  • Become a minimalist
  • Start a journal
  • Begin a meditation routine
  • Become a foster parent
  • Donate items to a local thrift store
  • Buy locally made products
  • Reduce the amount of water and power you use
  • Get involved with a cause you care about
  • Be kind to others
